Unlike full field skin resurfacing that removes the entire surface area of a treatment site, the Sciton ProFractional XC laser creates thousands of microscopic channels in the skin and covers only a fraction of the total treatment area. This significantly reduces injury to healthy surrounding tissue, which aids the body’s natural healing process. The treated areas are stimulated to produce collagen, which, in time, reduces the appearance of wrinkles and scars.

Pinpoint bleeding may occur in areas where deeper scars and wrinkles have been treated. The procedure is well tolerated with numbing cream, with many clients experiencing a slight stinging sensation. Oral painkillers may be given if required. While the Sciton ProFractional XC laser can be used on any part of the body, treatment is commonly applied to the face, neck, chest, and back.

Redness and a sunburn sensation will occur immediately after the treatment and last two days. Mild skin peeling and flaking will follow for the subsequent five days. There may be scabbing where deeper areas have been treated.

Clients should avoid direct sun exposure as the treated area will be sensitive to ultraviolet light. It is highly recommended for clients to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen.
